ZED Talks are our twist on the classic TED Talks series. Each Thursday, a speaker or panel of speakers will be invited to talk about how technology, entertainment, and design is transforming life in Fumba Town and beyond.
King James Britt will kick off the ZED Talk series. Pew Fellowship recipient, King James Britt, is a producer, composer, and performer in electronic music. His position as Teaching Professor in Computer Music carries a unique perspective, bringing a non-linear approach and knowledge to the department by focusing on various modern forms of electronic music pedagogy and research, while continuing to be an active force in the music industry.
Blacktronika: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music is a lecture course, created by King, researching and honoring the people of color who have pioneered groundbreaking genres within the electronic music landscape. For this special session, King will discuss the origins of Blacktronika as well as dive into a few interesting histories.
The talk will begin at 6 PM EAT at Kwetu Kwenu Chill and will be open for free to the general public.
