We’ll be reading “The Indsutrial Society & Its Future”, the seminal work of Ted Kaczynski, better known as the Unabomber. Despite his terrorism, Kaczynski poses some thought-provoking (though potentially flawed) arguments for why technology is at odds with functioning society. We’ll skim the text (~40 pages) and then talk about the core arguments Kaczynski makes. We can juxtapose this against how we anticipate future post-AGI, post-economic societies can achieve human flourishing.
