Are we taking the action with a long-lasting strategy to plant trees and sow seeds to create the paradise for Humanity to thrive?
The Cabeço Santo Association was created in 2019 to be the face of a project that was already 13 years in the making.
The project arose in the aftermath of a major fire and is taking place in a region where eucalyptus plantations are pervasive, with all the impacts on biodiversity and the ecosystem services that this entails.
The project is working in areas owned by several partners in the Belazaima, Castanheira do Vouga and Agadão, in the municipality of Águeda, and aims to restore native vegetation in one of the most important habitats - the rupicolous, riparian, oak and arbutus habitats - by maintaining exotic and invasive plants and promoting native plants by various means.
More recently, inspired by the foundations of permaculture, natural and syntropic agriculture, cultivating a more harmonious relationship with the ecosystem.
In order to achieve this vision, the association seeks to raise awareness in the community and calls for volunteer participation, holding frequent volunteer work days and organizing activities around the theme.
