Cryptocurrency, once seen as the saviour of our failing financial systems by early cypherpunks, is now a shadow of its former intended purpose. Today, leaders continually pay lip service to the principles originally brought forward by Bitcoin, claiming decentralization, immutability, and fairness. But if the whole purpose of crypto is to move away from centralization, what is the point of being there if not for real decentralization? These leaders create projects that reneg on those very ideas, for their own personal gain and/or interests. In doing so, the vision of a 'by the people for the people' trustless system has eroded away at the expense of profit-driven motives, turning our utopian dream into a dystopian reality, and reducing our final hope for a truly free economy—unbounded by governments and regulations—hanging by a thread.

Frente por la Soberanía Criptográfica is a new movement originating in Buenos Aires, which also goes by the name "Front pour la Souveraineté Cryptographique", which aims to champion the original cypherpunk values that Bitcoin brought us, and propel them into a reimagined world of decentralized finance. We want to expose the falsities promoted by the majority of blockchain projects today, and renew the vision for a financial system that is built to allow the world to break free from the chains of traditional finance and government control, where the people have the power.
