Mae Wang Elephant Camp Loop, in the Mae Wang valley
Meet 09:00 at Chai Lai Orchid Eco Lodge and Cafe, Mae Wang. Coffee first, then a 5 minute walk to join the loop, on a path we found on the map and haven’t walked yet. Plan for about 5.5 hours total, finishing by 16:00.
About 9.2 km, 339m of climb, about 3 to 3.5 hours of walking. One group up to about 15 people, a brisk and a relaxed group if more come. Cut it short whenever you like.
Forest and bamboo, river crossings, a break at the Wang River, Mae Wang Waterfall, then a 23 minute road walk back to the cafe.
Bring trail shoes you don’t mind getting wet, 2L of water, snacks, a rain jacket, a cap, mosquito spray and some cash.
Then join us for dinner around 17:00 at Phupha Cafe & Restaurant, 5 minutes down the valley.
