Most African infrastructure projects die before they ever meet an investor. Not because the capital isn't there, but because getting a project to bankable; feasibility studies, technical assessments, legal structuring, financial modelling etc, costs money the sponsor doesn't have and expertise they can't buy. Technical assistance exists to solve this. But TA is grant-funded, and grant funding is now contracting sharply. This session examines who actually pays for project preparation, why the model is straining, and what happens to the pipeline if the money that makes projects investable disappears
