Although China's underground culture is not as thriving as that in Europe and the US, it is still growing promisingly. Meanwhile, popular science for the public is becoming increasingly mature. Various music labels, art museums, institutions, and record stores have started introducing underground culture, hosting workshops, and organizing cultural week events. It's a busy season right now—the guests here can attend them, though I haven't had the time to go myself, so I'm just putting it out there.
"Coming from the creative fields, I’m here to offer a fresh perspective. Instead of criticizing the current landscape, I want to use China's music and publishing ecosystem as a reference to discuss how to fight algorithm traps and build authentic communities."
Why do Chinese music labels struggle with operations? Why can't Chinese music professionals find a clear path forward? Why is the road to copyright protection so difficult for Chinese musicians?
Instead of over-criticizing here, I want to explore solutions with all of you:
The Streaming Scam & Algorithm Trap: Audiences just consume whatever they are fed. The music industry needs something that challenges the algorithm.
Label Operations & Independent Musicians: The shared dilemma is the lack of funding. How do we secure financing?
Subjective Aesthetics: Audiences do not want to be judged or criticized. How do we politely introduce and popularize the culture? I often encounter misunderstandings. While I truly believe aesthetics shouldn't be judged, people should still actively learn and explore.
Mass Media "Muddying the Waters": Variety shows, self-media, and UGC (User-Generated Content) organic traffic—for these entities, there are no standards for aesthetics and art. How can we precisely control the flow and mutation of information? This is operationally challenging.
